Product FAQ:

What is whey protein?

Whey protein is a protein powder made from cow’s milk. Whey protein is highly soluble and very easy to digest. Nutritional benefits include a well-balanced amino acid profile with a high concentration of branched chain amino acids. Whey proteins bring a wide range of valuable functional properties when used as food ingredients. They can modify some or all of the structural, textural and organoleptic properties of food, resulting in improved consumer acceptance of the food product.

What is milk protein?

Milk contains about 3.4% protein, which is comprised of 2 main proteins: Casein and Whey. Milk proteins are one of the best sources of natural proteins available. Combining the functional and nutritional benefits of casein and whey, milk proteins are one of the best forms of dairy protein. Vitalus Nutrition manufactures four different types of milk proteins to cover a wide variety of food and beverage applications. We offer protein in different levels: 70%, 80%, and 85%. A heat-stable milk protein is also available upon request. Email our team for more details at information@vitalus.com.

How are Vitalus Nutrition milk proteins made?

Milk Protein Concentrates and Milk Protein Isolates are proteins derived from liquid skim milk that have been concentrated to the desired protein levels followed by a spray-drying process. Vitalus Nutrition utilizes an ultrafiltration process, which is a gentle procedure that removes water, lactose and other portions of the milk to provide a purified protein product. This process requires no pH adjustment and keeps the protein intact and in its undenatured taste.

What is the difference between Whey Concentrate and Isolate?

Whey concentrate has high levels of bio-active compounds and lactose (29-89% protein by weight), is low in fat and bland in taste. Whey isolate has lower bio-active compounds (90%+ protein by weight), no fat, no lactose and a slightly milky taste.
